1. Scope

These terms govern the sale of books offered on this site by Camille Ayasse Staletti (“the seller”), whose details appear in the legal notice, to any consumer buyer.

Placing an order implies unreserved acceptance of these terms as in force on the day of the order.

2. Products

Books are described as accurately as possible. Photographs are illustrative: slight differences in tone or patina, inherent to paper and printing, do not constitute a defect.

Books are offered subject to availability. A sold-out title is marked as such and cannot be ordered.

3. Prices

Prices are shown in euros, all taxes included. Printed books are subject to the reduced French VAT rate of 5.5%.

Fixed book price. Under French law no. 81-766 of 10 August 1981, the retail price of new books is set by the publisher or importer, and the seller may not grant a discount exceeding 5% of that price.

Shipping of new books. French law imposes a minimum shipping charge on distance sales of new books below a threshold set by decree. Shipping therefore cannot be free below that threshold.

4. Orders

The buyer selects the books, reviews the order and confirms it. Confirmation forms the contract. A confirmation email summarising the order is sent to the buyer.

5. Payment

Payment is made online by bank card through Stripe. Card details are transmitted directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection: the seller never has access to the card number.

The order is definitively recorded only once payment has been received.

6. Delivery

Books are shipped to the address given by the buyer.

Where no date is stated, the seller delivers within thirty days of the contract at the latest. Risk passes to the buyer on physical delivery of the goods.

7. Right of withdrawal

Under article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code, a consumer buyer has fourteen days from receipt of the order to withdraw, without giving reasons.

To do so, the buyer sends an unambiguous statement to mail@camilleayassestaletti.com or to 16 rue Visconti, 75006 Paris. The model form in the annex may be used but is not compulsory.

Books must be returned within fourteen days of that statement, in their original condition and packaged so as to travel undamaged. Return postage is borne by the buyer.

The seller refunds all sums paid, including standard delivery charges, within fourteen days of recovering the goods — or of proof of their dispatch, if earlier — using the same means of payment.

Exceptions. Under article L221-28, the right of withdrawal does not apply, among others, to goods made to the buyer's specifications or clearly personalised, nor to audio or video recordings unsealed after delivery.

8. Legal guarantees

The seller is liable for lack of conformity under articles L217-3 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, and for hidden defects under articles 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code.

Under the guarantee of conformity, the buyer has two years from delivery and may choose between repair and replacement, subject to the cost conditions provided by law. No proof of the defect is required during the twenty-four months following delivery of a new item.

Under the guarantee against hidden defects, the buyer may seek rescission of the sale or a price reduction within two years of discovering the defect.

9. Complaints and mediation

Complaints may be addressed to mail@camilleayassestaletti.com or to 16 rue Visconti, 75006 Paris.

Failing an amicable solution, a consumer buyer may refer the matter free of charge to the mediator named in the legal notice.

10. Personal data

Processing carried out in connection with an order is described in the privacy policy.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to the consumer's right to bring proceedings before the courts of their place of residence.
